Getting Around St. Croix by Car, Taxi and Tour
Renting a car gives you freedom to explore the sites.
In addition to the beautiful grounds, sandy beach, family atmosphere, friendly staff, and tons of amenities, The Palms at Pelican Cove has a great St. Croix location that is conveniently close to most of the attractions and activities you'll want to experience. As the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands (approximately 28 miles long and 7 miles wide), there are unique sites and places to see along the north shore, east end, south shore and west end. You will be amazed at how different each part of St. Croix can be. You may not want a car for the full duration of your visit, but we do recommend you plan at least 1 or 2 days of exploring.
See our St. Croix Recreation page for details on what to do.
See our Location / Driving Directions page for a map of where we are located.
When You First Arrive
If you have never been to St. Croix, you might want to consider taking a taxi from the airport to The Palms at Pelican Cove upon first arriving. You will be transported safely to the The Palms without the worry of finding your way here on your own. If you do plan to rent a car from the airport,
please refer to our driving directions, and look for easy-to-see signs along the way.
Guided tours depart from Christiansted.
Snorkel your heart out.
To truly experience all that St. Croix has to offer, you'll want the freedom to take a road trip and explore the different areas of St. Croix. If your island stay is longer than a day or two, it is highly recommended that you plan an adventure of your own. Even though we drive on the left side of the road in the Virgin Islands, you will find it is easy to make the adjustment.
Please let us know if you are interested in renting a car. Our reservations specialist or staff at the front desk can either make arrangements for you or recommend a reputable car rental agency. Our preferred partners can deliver your car right to the hotel. You'll have a choice of all types of vehicles: jeep, sedan, convertible, SUV and mini-van rentals are available. Due to the curvy roads and hills, motor scooters are not recommended.
Taxi service is also an option for day-to-day transportation on St. Croix. Fixed rates are updated regularly and posted at http://www.gotostcroix.com/taxis.php.
Limo service can be arranged in advance for your airport pickup, special event or just for fun on a big night out. Please let us know if you wish to reserve a limousine.
Whether or not you do rent a car, we highly recommend a driving tour led by St. Croix's experienced tour guides.
